My circle of friends and community has been aware of the
Zika virus almost from the beginning. We have organized
patrols to monitor areas where mosquitos can breed, emptying
random vessels, putting chlorine into stagnant pools and ponds,
alerting citizens of unsanitary conditions. We have pushed for
wider degrees of organization,,,holding public meetings, staging
events, printing and distributing fliers....to good success. Still,
the fear is palpable. The government is quite aware of the problem,
but inefficiency and lack of political will are problems. The
government is cooperating with international agencies, such as
the CDC in the United States as much as possible.
One question seems unanswerable: where did this virus originate,
and under what conditions? Could it be the result of genetic
engineering gone wrong? It's difficult to uncover information that
certain governmental agencies want to keep secret. Rumors abound.
The TQ Project is one such shadowy source of gossip. References
to it appear infrequently to some of my sources...but it seems to
be connected to an area of research of forensic biology, or,
perhaps, genetic cloning. Whether it is only peripherally connected
to the Zika virus or more deeply is not known to me or my sources.
What it actually is remains a mystery.
